Peripheral nerve regeneration within artificial conduits is efficient when the patient is young, the lesion is small, the injury repair is immediate.
When the repair is delayed, cells belonging to the peripheral nerve and involved in its regeneration (macrophages, Schwann cells, nerve fibroblasts and endothelial cells) are less efficient. One aim of this project is to identify the genes differentially expressed during peripheral nerve regeneration after immediate versus delayed repair.
Biomolecular and morphological analyses of peripheral nerves regenerating after delayed or immediate nerve repair will be carried out. Transcriptomic analysis obtained by deep sequencing is already available.
